When I first learned that we were going to watch this film I was very intrigued. I have always been interested in this subject and eager to learn more. What i didnt expect, was to get chills through out the whole movie and feel so much compassion for these people. It simply amazes me that "we" as human beings can be so cruel and heartless toward one another. Without our differences in religion, looks, race ect. we have no society! So to pick on one group of people because they are different is ridiculous. I have studied this subject before but i learned a lot from this film. To see all the dead bodies lying there on the streets like they are a piece of trash really made me cringe but the fact that everyone walked around them like they were invisible amazed me even more. Even though I know they were instructed to act like they didnt care. I cannot even begin to think of how the crew and camera men could do such cruel things and not feel any remorse. Who knows, maybe they did. Maybe they were told to do it and listened to their higher power OR maybe they just didnt care. Didnt care about the families they were splitting up, the homes and lives they were destroying, what an impact they had on the kids, the lives that were just being taken away like it wasnt a big deal. To see how small and frail all the people were getting was crazy to me. The little children that looked so old in the face because of not being nourished. The elder and wiser not living their last moments with happiness and freedom but, being scared and locked up like animals. After all the sad events that occurred i have to keep in mind that we wouldnt live in the world we do today without all this madness. Has all this taught us anything? I believe yes it has, taught us how we should treat each other and dont judge people on how they look or what they believe but simply judge someone on their character!

I was really moved by the scenes with the bodies on the streets as well. I couldn't imagine ending my life on a sidewalk from something as simple as lack of food. I also couldn't film or just casually walk by, I don't know how those cameramen did it.I find it fishy that the cameraman that was interviewed didn't remember a lot of details.
You make a very good point about the differences in religion, looks, race, etc, make our society. I totally agree.
I think it is so wrong to judge. And the fact that the Nazi's were doing it just because, was horrible! This response was so true.
While I agree that this makes a strong statement about treating other humans with dignity, I think this also points out that 1)Governments have to have their power regulated not only by other branches but also by the people and 2) when your government is corrupt, you shouold be capable of rising against your government. As much as I hate to quote a film for this, "People shouoldn't be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people"
As you said towards the end, this is not our society anymore. We have learned some, but did we not do something very similar to the black people we stole from their homes many years before? I wonder if any of the cops felt bad about what they did like the Nazi's. The Testimony of this poor film maker makes me think he was not hardened, but burdened for the jewish people.
Yes, I also desire a society that views equality in higher regard. I fear we are still far from the goal of achieving it, but this is a monumentous example of why it is so important.
