The Holocaust and the Nazi regime has always been something I have been extremely interested in. The thought of one man having so much power is something that is hard for me to fathom. I have read many books and watch numerous documentaries over this tragedy but one aspect that I never took into account was that of Nazi propaganda and the impact it had.
Many times throughout my personal enquires on the matter, I remember thinking how did the rest of the world not realize what was happening? Why were so many people allowed to die before other nations decided to step in? At this point I am aware that there were many factors that played into the above questions, but while I watched this movie I found myself again thinking, this footage was being done to show the world that the Jewish people really did not have it that bad, and the ones who were suffering the most were suffering on their own account.
It saddens me to know that the Jews portrayed in the film as the ones enjoying life, were merely trying to better their own situation to some extent and yet completely unaware that the intent of the film was to do nothing more then down play the severity of the situation to the rest of the world. As we now know for most their fate was sealed with a death sentence regardless.
I am not sure if any of these films were ever released to the public, but throughout it’s duration I often forgot that every person, action and so on was meticulously constructed by the Nazi’s, with that being said I think these films could have been very detrimental to an already less then timely release of the Jews. In my opinion the depiction of life for Jews in the ghetto was very believable especially if you did not know the intention behind the footage. This film merely reiterates what the human mind and body can endure, but more importantly that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I have also done some reading into the holocaust but this film really made everything seem so much more real to me. I agree that it is amazing that people survived such harsh conditions, the human body and mind really is amazing.
I think that absolute power corrupts as well. And depending on who is in power is dependant on the amount of corruption. In this case, there was an unbelievable amount of corruption.
It goes to show that we may not need to believe everything we see on t.v.
Propaganda exists in all things we simply have to look for it. Whether it's the Go Army commercials or something more severe, propaganda is alive and kickin'. While not all propaganda is bad (once again, Go Army, etc), these constant sociopolitical influences root themselves in the minds of the poorly educated people who are already ill informed by their governments. Needless to say, this film should teach us that we can't always listen to our government and if we choose to, we (in the modern age at least) should take the initiative to ensure the truth of what we're hearing. So check your facts people... You never know what the government might be trying to force down your throat
I love that you have done so uch reasearch into this already. I have always been captivated by the Holocaust, but this is pretty much the first time I have ever been so in depth. These videos do show a new side to the situation that I was never aware of.
Yes I also agree it is amazing the amount of power Hitler accrued in such a short time. It makes you wonder if all Germans started off hating the Jews or if it was really just one political party influencing an entire nation.
